Meet Margaret Counter

Margaret founded TeddyCounter after noticing that children’s toys were increasingly mass-produced, lacking character and tactile joy. She envisioned a bear that felt alive, weighted to the touch, and designed to nurture presence and calm.

Every stitch, every bead, every silk eye is a choice to make childhood slower, gentler, and more intentional. Margaret believes in creating companions that leave a lasting impression for generations.

The Workshop

Every TeddyCounter bear is crafted in our boutique atelier in the UK. The workshop embodies patience and precision: every detail, from the alpaca mohair sourcing to hand-stitched silk eyes, is meant to elevate the experience of touch and connection.

We intentionally slow the production process. Bears are weighted, stuffed, and sewn with care to ensure they age beautifully with the child, becoming a timeless companion.

Alpaca mohair from the highlands, recycled glass beads for weight, and silk for every eye—all ethically sourced.

Design

Bears are proportioned to mimic the weight of a resting hand, giving a sense of real presence and calm when held.
